Miss Deaf Colorado Ambassador Program

The mission is to promote young ladies, to allowing them to showcase their leadership skills, talents, as well as their volunteer work and their community service. We want to give these ladies a chance to grow as leaders and to explore new experiences and ideas. We want out contestant to be a major step in empowering these young ladies to become our future leaders.

As you might know, the word “pageant” kind of sends the wrong image of what “Miss Deaf America Ambassador” is all about or sends away the donators and the motivated young ladies. The term “pageant”, however, in the dictionary is described as a beauty contest.

The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) had been debating how to attract the young ladies to participate because it is also the beginning point of a journey as an ambassador, not just outer beauty alone. As we all know, inner beauty is what makes us beautiful on the outside. An ambassador is as the dictionary describes: a diplomatic official of the highest rank, sent by one state to another as its representative. In other word, it means a person who has leadership skills and is able to be a representative of one’s organization.

 NAD has altered the title from “Miss Deaf America Pageant” to “Miss Deaf America Ambassador Program”. It’s very true, as you know, the winner of the Miss Deaf America title travels all over the nation, giving presentation, being the pulse of NAD, empowering youth, educating Americans about The deafness. All of the above fits the terms, “ambassador” 

Now, the Miss Deaf Colorado Ambassador Program is not just a beauty contest. The Ambassador program is an event in which young deaf ladies of Colorado display their intelligence, talent, personality, poise, and self-confidence in their quest of the “Miss Deaf Colorado Ambassador” title. Above all, the position is a fine, dignified, and beautiful way to encourage young deaf ladies to become leaders of tomorrow! There is also opportunity to win cash prizes. The “Miss Deaf Colorado Ambassador” program is sponsored by the Colorado Association of the Deaf as a worthwhile to promote success and self-esteem in young deaf ladies.

Now, you don’t need to be tall, thin, or beautiful to participate. Anyone with a leadership quality can join!
